Hollywood, Media and Congress disapproval ratings soar

Hollywood Hypocrisy (NL)

62% say Hollywood has negative impact on society

62% of news reports have been slanted against Trump

73.6% of voters give Congress a disapproval rating

Hollywood, much like the Mainstream Media and Congress, needs to get its act together–it’s becoming more difficult for them to hide from their hypocrisy–according to most American voters. In October, we learned 62% of Americans say liberal Hollywood has a negative impact on society. This compares to 50% in August 2013 and 51% in February 2011.

“Americans continue to think the politics of Hollywood bend to the left and that the film industry has a negative impact on society,” Rassmussen Reports revealed this week. In January, the pollsters reported that after “Meryl Streep’s Golden Globes speech criticizing incoming President Donald Trump, most Americans see Hollywood celebrities as politically to the left of them and dismiss the stars as poor role models.”

Sixty percent of American adults, at that time, said Hollywood celebrities were not good role models, with 20 percent undecided. Once protected by the traditional Tinsel Town and other business system, almost daily we are learning about just how nasty role models some of their leaders are.  Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, director James Toback, Amazon Studios executive Roy Prince, Screen Junkies founder Andy Signore, Nickelodeon’s Chris Savino, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, venture capitalist Chris Sacca and 500 Startups founder Dave McClure are among the accused sexual predators revealed so far.

Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s chief operating officer, told a group in Washington, D.C. last week that the Weinstein scandal “is abysmal — and it’s not just his behavior, it’s the behavior of everyone around. This should never happen. When it does happen, people should lose their jobs. And what he’s going through is what every person should be afraid of, so that they don’t do it.”

This is particularly disturbing for Hollywood Democrats because none of this follows their usual narratives. An ABC News/Washington Post poll published earlier this month found just 28% think the Democratic Party is “in touch with the concerns of most people in the United States today.” Even in their own party, only 52% of Democrats now think their party is in touch with people in the country.

The liberal leaning New York Times recently agonized in an editorial that “for the first time in memory, Democrats are seen as more out of touch with ordinary Americans than the party’s political opponents.”

Tim Ryan, D-Ohio, called it a huge wake-up call. “Having two-thirds of the country think that your party is in la-la-land, that’s a bombshell.”

A Pew Research analysis, released this month, acknowledged that media coverage of President Donald Trump has been far more negative than that of his three predecessors in the White House. Over 62 percent of reports so far have slanted with a negative assessment of President Trump. Only 5 percent included a positive assessment. In comparison, only 20 percent of stories about former President Barack Obama were negative, while 42 percent were positive. For both George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, 28 percent of early stories about their administrations were negative.

Almost 46 percent of voters think the news media fabricate news stories about President Trump and his administration, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll. About 76 percent of GOP voters, 44 percent independent voters, and 20 percent of Democrat voters think the media invents stories about the White House.

It’s been one year today that the New York Times told us Hillary Clinton had a 93 percent chance of winning the presidential election of 2016.

Even the liberal Daily Beast’s Joel Kotkin wrote that the left has turned increasingly isolated—and more intolerant—of people who don’t live in blue colored urban areas such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Seattle. He wrote that many of those “in the deepest blue cores” are “developing oikophobia — an irrational fear of their fellow citizens” and are “abandoning the toiling masses.”

Hollywood, mainstream media crumbling (NL)

“Despite such entreaties, the left appears to be retreating deeper into its bubble,” Investor’s Business Daily wrote.

“And on the political left, there is a massive intolerance for anyone on the right,” Erick Erickson commented in the News-Sentinel. “In fact, there are more people on the left in America today who would be angry with a conservative neighbor than there are conservatives who would be angry with a liberal neighbor.”

When Democrat Ryan said most of the country thinks his party is from ‘La-la-land,’ it was a direct to hit Hollywood.

“In California, the Governor just signed legislation that decriminalizes the knowing transmission of HIV,” Erickson wrote.  “So if you happen to go to California and need a blood donation, because the law applies to blood donations as well, you just might go home with HIV. But it is OK because the left has decided HIV and AIDS need to be de-stigmatized.”

Real Clear Politics, an average of polls by Reuters, Gallup, Economist, YouGov, Public Policy Polling, and Monmouth, give Congress a disapproval rating of 73.6 percent. The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll shows 57 percent disapproval rates for congressional Democrats, 46 percent who strongly disapprove congressional Republicans.

  1. our family and friends have already stopped buying NFL products and avoiding Hollywood movies that have actors who publicly disrespect the office of the Pres. we have agreed to terminate Netflix and block CNN and NBC as well as ABC, MSNBC and the Disney channel. our family has even changed out vacation plans and will be visiting Texas this year instead of California.
American main street has begun speaking with our dollars and will continue to do so. We thank the demarcates for showing they support rights of Law breakers and Illegals over Law abiding Americans. My mother in law even changed her party affiliate after 25 years and has vowed to support the republican parties cause of bringing back enforcement of US Laws. Most of our church has committed to these same principles and with over 1200 in our flock we believe a change will be felt by many.. Americans are waking up and look forward to seeing the ratings and profits fall for those who appose common sense American fundamental values…
