Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) has named House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) Porker of the Month for her long history of misinformation and hyperbole regarding Obamacare.
During a CNN town hall on January 3, Leader Pelosi made startling claims about Obamacare: “It’s three purposes were to increase coverage, expand those who got healthcare; to improve benefits; and to lower costs, and it has succeeded in every way.”
Leader Pelosi’s rhetoric doesn’t match the facts. In January, the Congressional Budget Office estimated that Obamacare covers less than half of the original estimate of 30 million people, with 84 percent of those covered receiving taxpayer-funded Medicaid instead of private insurance.
The skyrocketing cost of Obamacare has caused insurers either to increase premiums drastically or withdraw from the marketplaces entirely, as Humana and Aetna have announced. In 2017, insurers plan to triple premium prices in 38 states, while 70 percent of counties only offer one or two health insurance options.
For repeatedly peddling false claims about Obamacare to the American people, Leader Pelosi is the February Porker of the Month.
